Christina Grimmie funeral: Parents draw strength from Jesus Christ amid tragedy

Parents of Christian singer Christina Grimmie called on their Christian faith during their daughter's public memorial service held Friday, June 17 at Fellowship Alliance Chapel in Medford, New Jersey.

The late singer's mother, Tina Grimmie, broke down in tears as she revealed her weakness in the face of her daughter's untimely death.

"To anybody who says that I'm strong, I want you to know that I'm the weakest person here, and I declare my dependence on Jesus Christ because I don't have anything else," she said, as reported by US Weekly. "It's just so much."

Her husband, Bud, also talked largely about drawing faith from God and that "gigantic hole" in his heart left behind by his daughter's passing that he knows "is never going to go away."

"God showed me that He's way bigger than that hole," Bud said.

He added that there are three things that keep him from crumbling down. The first of which is the thought that he's going to see his daughter again.

"She's way better off now, she's more alive now than she's ever been, she's not going to be hurt anymore," he said, adding, "and this is where I'm wrestling, [which] is [believing] that God's plan is better than my plan."

The 22-year-old singer succumbed to gunshot wounds after a deranged fan shot her in the head June 11 as she signed autographs for fans at The Live Plaza theatre.

Best Buy co-workers of the gunman identified as 27-year-old Kevin James Loibl told TMZ that Loibl fantasized marrying the singer. He even went under the knife to get Lasik eye surgery and turned vegan to lose weight for her. Loibl also claimed he had met Grimmie in March during one of her shows and played online games with her. Sources close to the singer denied such claims.

However, the co-workers believe it enraged Loibl to find out that the singer already had a boyfriend after they teased him about it.

The former contestant of "The Voice" rose to fame after becoming a YouTube sensation in July 2009. She also spoke openly of her Christian faith.
