Joyce Meyer: The Bible verse that changed my life is...

Evangelist Joyce Meyer revealed that there's one Scripture verse that changed her life and restored her after suffering from the trauma of child abuse.

The 73-year-old preacher, who taught the Bible for 40 years, said that God restored her back to being a whole person through a Bible verse in Psalm.

"One Scripture verse that has been truly life-changing for me over the years in my journey to wholeness is Psalm 27:4," wrote Meyer through an op-ed for The Christian Post on Monday, July 18.

The verse read, "One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek, inquire for, and [insistently] require: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord [in His presence] all the days of my life..." (AMPC).

The founder of Joyce Meyer Ministries publicly confessed that her father molested her at least once a week until she reached the age of 18 and left home. Meyer talked largely about this particular episode of her life throughout her ministry. She also shared how the devil caused her to bear the guilt and shame of this traumatic experience.

She confessed she became a broken person because of her past and that she went through a tough journey to restoration. She discovered through the process that seeking God in one's life is the answer to everything just as indicated by Matthew 6:33.

It reads, "Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need" (NLT).

The New York Times best-selling author then discussed what seeking God truly means. She asked readers to determine God's place in their lives. Instead of making God fit in their time, Meyer said, people should fit their schedule around God. Only by then can they claim that God is the center of their lives.

She encouraged Christians to turn around their relationship with God from asking "God, what can You do for me?" to "God, how can I know You more and what can I do for You?"
