Pastor Greg Laurie urges Americans to vote Biblically in 2016 elections

Pastor Greg Laurie of Harvest Christian Fellowship is encouraging Americans to cast their votes this 2016 in accordance with the Bible.

In a write-up published on The Blaze, Pastor Greg Laurie likened the U.S. presidential elections 2016 to America approaching a crossroads where the future lies on the next elected president. He then urged Christians to get involved in the upcoming national polls by registering, voting, and knowing each presidential candidate's stand on the most important issues.

For Pastor Greg Laurie, Christians who decide not to take part in the elections are irresponsible. While he acknowledges the privilege that Christians hold in letting their voice be heard, he also cautioned them against voting for the wrong reasons.

"But we should not vote emotionally. We should vote intelligently," Laurie says in his write-up. "And most importantly, we should vote biblically. The decision we make will affect generations to come."

One of the things Laurie discussed in detail is the importance of having a leader who understands how important the family is to the country. He specified that by family, he means a unit consisting of a man and a woman in a monogamous marriage.

Citing data from the Families Civil Liberties Union (FCLU) in 2016, Laurie notes that 85 percent of children with behavioral disorders grew up without a father, and 90 percent of homeless and runaway kids also came from fatherless homes. The list also goes to show that a majority of children who are high school dropouts, admitted to drug rehab facilities, rapists, in juvenile detention, in prison, and who committed suicides grew up in a fatherless home.

For Laurie, it is also important that the presidential candidate he chooses champions the rights of unborn children. Since he was conceived out of wedlock, he is thankful that his mother chose to carry on with her pregnancy. For this reason, the Christian pastor said he wants a president who will fight for the unborn children.
