Multiple petitions have begun to circulate calling on the TLC network to cancel the reality show "19 Kids and Counting" after Josh Duggar, one of the show's cast members, apologized for an "inappropriate" incident involving underage girls several years ago.

Petitions on Change.org have called on the network to officially cancel the show. Although TLC pulled repeats of the show set to air over Memorial Day weekend, it has not formally announced that it will cancel the reality show entirely.

Following a report that alleged Josh Duggar had molested underage girls when he was 14-years-old, the reality show star issued a statement saying he "acted inexcusably."

"Twelve years ago, as a young teenager, I acted inexcusably for which I am extremely sorry and deeply regret. I hurt others, including my family and close friends. I confessed this to my parents who took several steps to help me address the situation. We spoke with the authorities where I confessed my wrongdoing, and my parents arranged for me and those affected by my actions to receive counseling. I understood that if I continued down this wrong road that I would end up ruining my life," Josh told People magazine in an interview last week.

While some petitions call on the "19 Kids and Counting" show to be canceled, others, including former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, have spoken out in defense of the reality show family.

"Josh's actions when he was an underage teen are as he described them himself, 'inexcusable,' but that doesn't mean 'unforgivable,' " Huckabee, who recently entered the 2016 presidential race, recently said. "He and his family dealt with it and were honest and open about it with the victims and the authorities. No purpose whatsoever is served by those who are now trying to discredit Josh or his family by sensationalizing the story."
