Hollywood's true attitude toward Christianity - poll seeks answers

Is Hollywood biased against Christianity? A new poll sought to find the answer.

"What is your opinion of Hollywood's treatment of Christianity?" the poll question asked respondents.

The results showed that about a third, or 32 percent, of Republicans believe Hollywood often portrays Christianity negatively. On the other hand, only 5 percent of Democrats shared the same sentiment.

The poll was conducted by the Barna Group as commissioned by the makers of the movie "God's Not Dead 2." Its results were announced during a screening of the movie in Cleveland ahead of the Republican National Convention.

A worship service was held before the screening, which was a first in GOP conventions.

Pat Boone, who starred in the film, said he was not surprised with the poll's results. He said movies that do not show restrictions based on moral values bring profits.

"Hollywood doesn't like it when people tell them to stick to moral rules because it makes a lot of money breaking those rules. Orgies, vampires, zombies, debauchery of all forms. Anything goes, and it is liberal Democrats who are making these films. Depravity is profitable," Boone told The Hollywood Reporter.

David A. R. White, who also starred in the movie, said the poll shows the reason why he started Pure Flix.

"That's one of the reasons why we started Pure Flix over 10 years ago because we wanted to make positive uplifting life affirming content that ultimately catered to the morals and values of what our society and culture was built on," he told Fox News. "I think obviously a third of the Republicans said Christianity was not fairly portrayed in films, and I think we have seen that."

Commenting on a billboard company's recent rejection of the "God's Not Dead 2" banner for being "too political," White said the issue shows the true condition of the present American culture.

He said Christians who face such controversies should not say they are being discriminated against but should make it their goal to stand up and speak out for what is right.
