It was expected that the third season of "Rick and Morty" will arrive this year. But it appears that the adult cartoon's season 3 will be moved to a 2017 release date. Meanwhile, a sneak peek of what's to come in season 3 shows an overwhelmed and broken down Rick and Morty in one of their space adventures.

"Rick and Morty" is an adult science fiction cartoon sitcom created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon. The show airs in Cartoon Network's Adult Swim, and it follows the out of this world adventures of Rick Sanchez and his grandson, Morty.

The show finished its second season, and fans have been anticipating the debut of the third season this 2016. But unfortunately, season 3 of "Rick and Morty" did not air this year. There have been no announcements when the show will premiere, but it is expected that "Rick and Morty" season 3 will come sometime in 2017.

Slashfilm reports that Adult Swim gave access to their development meeting through Facebook live. The meeting consisted of upcoming Adult Swim shows this 2017, and "Rick and Morty" was among them.

The sneak peek of "Rick and Morty" showed Morty in school, eavesdropping on the conversation of his crush Jessica and her two friends. He hears Jessica talk about finding the right person to be with at that point in her life, and Morty tries to sum up all his courage to present himself to Jessica.

But just before Morty says a word, Rick comes in and drags Morty to another space adventure. Morty complains that he is tired of these space quests and that he wants to go to school instead to take his chance with Jessica.

However, Rick brings Morty anyway, and the two fight a battle in space that they win successfully.

Upon returning to the spaceship, Rick and Morty break down and talk about how they don't want to be doing those kinds of things anymore. Rick even says, "Maybe I hate myself," in trying to come up with an answer why they put themselves always in danger.

"Rick and Morty" is expected to premiere in 2017.
