"Captain America: Civil War" will hit theaters on May 6, and it's not only Captain America a.k.a. Steve Rogers who will be starring in the upcoming Marvel feature film; Iron Man/Tony Stark will appear along with the whole Avengers gang for what is expected to be one of the most massive superhero showdowns in history of movies.

Robert Downey Jr., playing the character of the billionaire-playboy-philanthropist in an iron suit, will mark his seventh movie appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe through the third chapter of the Captain America film series.

Iron Man's last movie appearance was in last year's Marvel blockbuster hit, "Avengers: Age of Ultron." While "Civil War" will not be the last stint of Downey in the MCU as he is set to appear in the two-part "Avengers: Infinity Wars,"  people wonder if Downey is up for a possibility of another 'Iron Man' solo movie. The first "Iron Man" film that debuted Downey in the MCU was released in 2008, while the second and third "Iron Man" were released in 2010 and 2013, respectively.

In an interview with USA Today, while the idea of another "Iron Man" sequel is a good idea, the A-list actor does not think that "it's in the cards."

"In a way it's 'Cap 3' but for me it's like my little 'Iron Man 4' and then it's back to the thing we all recognize. Everything pulls over to the side of the road when the thunder of an Avengers thing comes through because that's how it is until it changes. If it changes," Downey said.

To recap the trailers, "Captain America: Civil War" involves the splitting of the Earth's Mightiest Heroes into two opposite factions due to the passing of the Regulation Act that aims to place all superhuman activities under government supervision; the first group, led by Captain America, would not allow outsiders to intervene in their operations, whereas the second faction, led by Iron Man, supports the idea. The two Avengers are pitted against each other as the world faces a new global threat.

While Iron Man will appear to antagonize Captain America in his own feature film, Downey told USA Today that his character will not be completely villainous, unlike the version of Iron Man in the comic series of the same name which the film was loosely based on.

"If we're going to go there, then we've got to save it for my swan song. I would still like to keep a general audience and mildly be in their favor somehow," Downey promised to fans.

Aside from the Marvel regulars like Black Widow, Hawkeye, War Machine, Falcon, Ant-man, Scarlet Witch and Vision, the third installment of Captain America will feature two new characters that are set to star in their own solo movies: Black Panther and Spider-man.
