In one of the surprise rumors in recent days, the San Antonio Spurs may be parting ways with LaMarcus Aldridge.

Despite being dubbed as another strong contender in this coming NBA season, Aldridge's name has been placed on the rumor mill as the Spurs are ready to move on after a failed campaign with the power forward.

According to a report, it was revealed that the Spurs are unhappy with the team not going far in the playoffs last year. Aldridge was one of the main players then and they may deal him away from Texas sometime in the middle of the year.

In an interview with CSN, sportswriter Jackie MacMullan said, "For instance, sources were telling me the other day that LaMarcus Aldridge may not even finish the year with the Spurs. That experiment hasn't quite worked out the way they hoped."

This rumor is definitely big news for the Spurs as they already lost one of their best players when Tim Duncan retired. They added a few players with Pau Gasol in the line-up, but the Spaniard might end up as a replacement for Aldridge instead of Duncan.

With the season only a few days away, Aldridge may be dealt for younger players as the Spurs will try to rebuild in the middle of the season.

Now 31 years old, Aldridge may be on his way out as he may have peaked and the Spurs are looking to adapt to the new landscape of the league.

Aldridge averaged 18.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per game, which is relatively within his career averages. Unfortunately, that was not enough last year when the Spurs were beaten by the Oklahoma City Thunder despite being dubbed as the second favorite in the West, behind the Golden State Warriors.

It is still unclear who the Spurs are eyeing to replace Aldridge, but there are definitely a lot of power forwards that will be looking to get a shot to play in San Antonio.
