Billy Graham: Seek God's will because He wants the best for you

To face the unknown future that lies ahead and to make critical decisions involving career, renowned Evangelical leader Billy Graham believes that the best thing to do is to seek God's plan for one's life.

When asked about how to make the right decisions for one's career, Graham responded by pointing to God whom he says knows everything about a person.

In his column for The Kansas City Star on Tuesday, June 7, the preacher wrote, "The most important advice I can give you is to seek God's will for your future. God knows all about you, and he made you into the person you are. He knows your gifts and abilities, and he also knows your limitations. Why not seek his plan for your life?"

He proceeded to emphasize how much God loves and cares for one person that one can actually trust his whole life and future in God's hands and expect only the best from Him.

"He not only knows what is best for you, he also wants you to have what is best for you," Graham declared.

He quoted Proverbs 3:5-6 on God's promise to direct one's path.

The verse reads, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."

After he's established the importance of seeking God's will in one's life, the founder of the Billy Graham Evangelical Association then instructed on how to determine what God's will is. The most important step, he noted, is committing one's life to Jesus Christ. Praying every day to ask for God's guidance and revelation of His will is the next critical step. This will ultimately lead one to advice from other people, opportunities, or inner conviction that would point to the right direction.

For Joyce Meyer, another prominent Evangelical leader, to live God's will for one's life would entail having the mind of Christ. This would entail turning to the Bible so that "we are in a position to walk by faith and do what God is leading us to do."
