'Spider-man: Homecoming' release date, spoilers and updates: A third villain reported to be making a surprise appearance?

"Spider-Man: Homecoming" is set to hit theaters in July 2017 | Marvel

Anyone updated on the "Spider-Man: Homecoming" movie knows that two villains are slated to appear: Michael Keaton's Vulture aka Adrian Toomes and Bokeem Woodbine's Shocker aka Herman Schultz. Rumors are popping up that a third villain is set to appear in the movie and fans are wildly speculating on who it might be.

Though Spider-Man can handle a bunch of superpowered bad guys, Peter Parker's greatest challenge may just be somebody dating his Aunt May.

Rumors say that the third villain will be more of an antagonist to Peter Parker (Tom Holland) than he is to Spider-Man. It's speculated that he may be someone who is dating Aunt May (Marisa Tomei) and Peter doesn't approve of him. Some are guessing that he could be a member of the faculty who is trying to fill-in the father role that he thinks Peter desperately needs.

Aunt May has actually ended up with several romantic partners in the comics. Among them are Tony Stark's butler Jarvis, the Fantastic Four's mailman, Willie Lumpkin and Spider-Man villain Doctor Octopus aka Otto Octavius.

It would be interesting to see Octavius introduced in the movie as a villain without superpowers, and it could be a nice way to set him up for future movies.

There is also news that somebody "central" to the "Spider-Man" mythos will be appearing in the film. The role is a mystery as of now, but there are a lot of characters that could possibly fill-in the role.

The character could very much be a new J. Jonah Jameson, the editor-in-chief of the Daily Bugle who thinks that Spider-Man is a menace.

However, the character could also be Norman Osbourne aka the Green Goblin. There were already rumors floating around that the Vulture suit may belong to Oscorp so an appearance from the classic villain wouldn't be out of place.

"Spider-Man: Homecoming" will hit theaters July 7, 2017.
