Star Wars fans, rejoice! The first part of a new trilogy finally has got a title instead of just a number: "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."

Following the last day of shooting at the Pinewood Studios outside London, Disney has announced the title of Star Wars Episode VII on Twitter.

But despite the title and the fact that filming is already finished, the movie will not be seen on the big screen until Dec. 18, 2015.

The new Star Wars movie continues the saga three decades after the events of "Return of the Jedi." It is bannered by the franchise's original stars – Harrison Ford (reprising the role of Han Solo), Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), Kenny Baker (R2-D2), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca), and Anthony Daniels (C-3PO).

New additions include Lupita Nyong'o (the best supporting actress Oscar-winner from "12 Years a Slave") and Gwendoline Christie (the female knight Brienne of Tarth from "Game of Thrones").

As they count the days leading to the release of the movie, fans will have to content themselves speculating on why "The Force Awakens" was chosen as the title of the J.J. Abrams-directed movie.

Some fans say the title suggests that the evil Empire was not entirely destroyed with the death of Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine in 1983 and that the new Jedi order promised by Luke Skywalker after the events of "Return of the Jedi" (Star Wars VI) did not materialize.

Some fans are asking which "Force" has awakened. Is it the Sith or the dark side of the Force? Or the force of the Jedi?

Some believe it could be the latter amid rumors of the film's storyline which shows the rise of Sith-like villains who have been introduced in the "Star Wars: Rebels" animated TV series.

Some say the title indicates the beginning of a new cycle in the franchise that will be followed by Star Wars VIII and XI.

One thing for sure, no one really knows yet what "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is all about. The only thing certain is that there will be a new generation of characters who may discover their own powers as the trilogy progresses.

Considering this, the awakening force may be that of the new characters.

Regardless, one thing is clear about the title: it shows the beginning of a new epic.
