Fans of The CW's superhero fiction "Supergirl" can expect lots of treats from its upcoming season 2 as spoilers reveal that it's going to be packed with exciting storylines.

To begin with, Superman is finally going to make a debut in "Supergirl" season 2. Warner Bros. just recently released the first photo ever featuring Tyler Hoechlin as Superman together with series main protagonist Supergirl played by Melissa Benoist.

Hoechlin, who plays the role of Derek Hale in "Teen Wolf," will appear in the early episodes of the series. Reports cite that his character Clark/Kal-El will be reconnecting with his cousin Kara/Kara Zor-El in National City.

Executive producer Sarah Schechter spoke at "Supergirl's" panel at the Comic-Con and revealed that though Superman and Supergirl are family, it cannot be prevented that the two will have conflict along the way since they have different styles of fighting bad guys and dealing with alien threats.

"I think that Clark has a very different experience of what it means to have superpowers on Earth," Schechter said. "He was raised with them, he has certain values so there's some real head butting and philosophical approaches that are different and we'll get into all that," she remarked.

The second season has not started filming yet but reports stated that Hoechlin is already looking forward to suiting up Man of Steel's iconic tights and cape.

In other news, a fan favorite character is staying. Schechter announced that Calista Flockhart is returning to the series to reprise her role as CatCo founder, Cat Grant. After the show got transferred from CBS to The CW, several changes were expected including the cast lineup. Speculations started going around that Flockhart will no longer join the show.

Schechter shot down the rumors, saying Cat will still be part of the show. However, her appearance will not be the same as the first season. She will be there but not as much as in season 1 since Kara is no longer Cat's assistant.

"Supergirl" season 2 will premiere on Oct. 10 on The CW.
