'The Hateful Eight' Cast News: Channing Tatum May Star In Quentin Tarantino Movie

Channing Tatum is reportedly in talks to star in "The Hateful Eight," a film to be directed by Quentin Tarantino.

The film was almost abandoned after the initial script was leaked on several websites. Since then the director has rewritten it and filming is expected to start in December.

As for Tatum's role, there is no news yet on what character he may be offered to play in the film, which is a western set in the era just after the Civil War. Among the cast are Samuel L. Jackson, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, Kurt Russell and Jennifer Jason Leigh, who plays the female lead in the film.

Most of the cast, with the exception of Leigh, were present when the original script was read to the public in Los Angeles. Since then Tarantino has rewritten a large amount of the script, especially the last chapter which was originally titled "Black Night, White Hell" in which all the characters end up dying.

The Hollywood reporter notes that the film will begin production in Colorado sometime during next month and it will be premiering before or during next year's Toronto Film Festival. The Weinstein Co. is in charge of distribution and it will be released in the United States shortly thereafter.

The eight characters in the film refer to the people who end up being trapped in a haberdashery during a blizzard in Wyoming. What follows are bloody shootings, and ultimately the poisoning of all the principal characters.

In the original script all the characters die as a result of the poisoning and shootout, but it seems after the leak of the script Tarantino changed the ending considerably.

Coming back to Tatum, he is on a roll after being signed to star in the "Gambit" movie. He is currently involved in the making of "Magic Mike XXL."
