According to reports, viewers are primarily looking forward to "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 simply because they want to see the anime redeemed from its heavily criticized second season, which strayed from the manga.

The first season of "Tokyo Ghoul" was critically acclaimed for being loyal to the manga created by Sui Ishida. The second season featured an alternate story made by Ishida as well, but it did not sit well with viewers.

Fans now urge that Studio Pierrot, who was behind the first two seasons, give the reins to Madhouse Entertainment for "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 since the latter is known for being loyal to the source material.

Rumor has it that Madhouse has finally stepped in to be in charge of "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3. Although there is no confirmation of this yet, Enstarz believes that the studio might indeed involve itself in the production.

According to the site, the rumors about "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 making Touka Kirishima the protagonist hints of Madhouse's involvement.

Since the character will be the center of the new season, it is said that the school she attends to, which is To-Oh University, the manga and anime version of Japan's real-life Toho University, will be heavily featured.

The school has also been featured in another anime in the past and that is "Death Note," which Madhouse worked on. The site says that this connection could be enough for the studio to be on board "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3.

With regards to the release date of the new season, there are reports that "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 will premiere either this fall or March 2017.
