CBS' thrilling drama "Zoo" wrapped up its sophomore run with a wild finale last Tuesday, featuring the Animal Avengers finally accomplishing their mission to find a cure. Prior to the show's end, the network already greenlit an early renewal and star James Wolk recently shared teasers on the upcoming installment.

Season 2 left off with Mitch and Jamie as they tried to steal General Davies' "clean" DNA. Logan arrived to help Mitch and Jamie in destroying the DNA, as they made their way to Pangaea thanks to Sgt. Mansdale who took down Davies. Mitch sacrificed his life by staying behind and keeping the fences powered up. The last moments of the episode featured a 10-year time jump with Abe and Dariela's son Isaac who is celebrating his graduation as part with the last batch of grade schoolers in the world. Jamie went on to become an author, while Jackson is still trying to find a solution to the hybrid animal problem. Clementine later reveals that her father is alive and that she knows where to find him.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Wolk hinted a one-of-a-kind storyline viewers should look forward to when the program returns to the small screen. Additionally, a new world will be explored as the team continues their mission in saving humanity and dealing with the threat brought by razorback hybrid animals.

"The audience is really going to be seeing a really interesting world in season 3," he stated, "and I'm so thrilled we got picked up for a season 3. That happened after we read this final episode, and when I saw the world that the writers and creators had set up, I was so excited that this world now gets to come alive. It's going to be unlike anything else on TV."

The third season of "Zoo" is expected to premiere next year on CBS, but the network has yet to announce a definitive release date.
