Eight years have already passed since many moviegoers of the horror genre have seen Jason Vorhees murdering teenagers on the big screen. With the recent reports that a movie reboot of the "Friday the 13th" horror film franchise is scheduled to launch this year, the iconic horror movie character is set to grace the big screen once more.

A recent report from Friday the 13th The Franchise has indicated that the production on the upcoming "Friday the 13th" film reboot is imminent. The movie will reportedly be going into production in early Spring 2017 in Atlanta, Georgia. At present, the film is in pre-production in the city of Conyers, Georgia, just 24 miles east of Atlanta.

Production company Platinum Dunes is scheduled for shooting in Conyers from March until May, which led some to believe that majority of the filming is meant to take place in the area. Interestingly, Conyers is just under 12 miles away from Covington, Georgia — the location where "Jason Lives: Friday The 13th Part VI" was filmed.

No cast members for the new "Friday the 13th" movie have officially been announced. However, as reported by MovieWeb, casting is currently underway. With assumptions that the reboot will be a relatively low-budget project, the film will most likely feature unknown actors and actresses, as is usually the case in horror films.

The upcoming film will be covering Jason Voorhees' flashback story and will be featuring his mother and father. A recent casting call for the film revealed that the movie will also be featuring a young version of Jason. Interestingly, they are not only seeking one 12-year-old male actor but identical twins with acting credits.

The "Friday the 13th" movie reboot, which will be directed by Breck Eisner with a script from Aaron Guzikowski, is currently slated to hit theaters this year on Friday, the 13th of October.
