The 2016 Motorola Moto X series, also branded as Moto Z, will be expected to be unveiled at the Lenovo Tech World Conference on Thursday, June 9 in San Francisco. A few days ahead of the smartphone's reported launch, photos of its alleged changeable modular back covers have surfaced on the web.

The leaked images show several replaceable back panel shells of the newest Motorola handset offering. The changeable covers seem to be made of a variety of materials creating different textures. The set of images is captioned "MotoMods – Style Mod!" "Style Mods" is reportedly the name of these replaceable covers.

Apart from these customizable rear covers of the Moto Z, the device will also be made more capable and serviceable through the integration of additional modular accessories which will be called MotoMods. These additional features of the Moto Z will be presented as optional for consumers depending on their necessities.

For now, as per the Twitter photo posted by Evan Blass, only three of these modules are known.

One will reportedly be an extended battery and Pico Projector. The Pico Projector will allow for better viewing on a big screen of videos and movies. The second module is said to be a JBL speaker of first-rate quality. The other one will be a Hasselblad camera which will be better-performing than the handset's built-in 16-megapixel camera. Hasselbald is a maker of filming devices known for its expensive price and credited for its quality.

In addition, the anticipated Moto X 2016 or Moto Z is said to be released in two variants, namely the Moto Z Play and the Moto Z Style.

The Moto Z Play is expected to have 5.5 inches of full HD screen display. It will operate on Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor matched with 2 GB of RAM. Users will get to choose between a Moto Z Play of 16 GB or of 32 GB storage capacity.

On the other hand, while the Moto Z Style will also come with the same 5.5 inches of full HD screen display, it will be running on the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC alongside 3 GB or 4 GB of RAM. It will be equipped with an internal storage capacity of 32 GB.

The Motorola Mobility is a Lenovo-owned company. Lenovo acquired the mobile device manufacturer in 2014.
