'Reign' season 3 spoilers, plot news: Bash to die while defending Mary, Scottish crown? Exciting things to watch out for in season finale

Who will win the battle for the Scottish crown? | The CW

"Reign" season 3 is coming to a close, and it's expected to go out with a bang. Spoilers for the June 20 season finale claimed that Mary (Adelaide Kane) would make a bold move to defend the Scottish crown, and it would pit her against her cousin, Elizabeth (Rachel Skarsten).

It was previously reported that episode 17 of "Reign" season 3 would find Mary returning to Scotland and finding it in a deplorable condition. Since she was presumed dead during her absence, she would continue faking her death long enough to see how she can stop her cousin's devious plan to overtake the throne.

Monday's season 3 finale titled "Spiders in a Jar" will see Mary engaging in a battle royale with her cousin Elizabeth in an effort to defend her reign in Scotland. At the same time, Lola (Anna Popplewell), will suffer dire consequences after being accused of a heinous crime.

Meanwhile, back in France, Catherine de Medici (Megan Follows) notices that something is off with her son Charles (Spencer MacPherson). It appears he's changed a lot after paying the price for her "relentless quest for power."

Fans worried when TV Line reported that Torrance Coombs who plays Bash in "Reign" is set to play Count Paris in ABC's new show "Still Star-Crossed." They surmised that Bash would die in season 3's finale especially if he decides to help Mary in defending the Scottish Crown.

However, a tweet from Coombs hinted that while he was leaving the show, it wouldn't be the last viewers would see of his character.

There's a possibility that he would be gravely wounded from the battle against Elizabeth's troops, which would prompt him to return home to France until he recuperates from his injuries. Writing off his character this way would give him a good exit from the show.

"Reign" season 3 finale will air on Monday at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
