Samsung Galaxy Note 7 release date, specs news 2016: New leaked details reveal phablet's powerful specs

Following the successful release of Samsung's flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, earlier this year, the company is said to have shifted their focus on the upcoming Galaxy Note 7. New leaks have emerged suggesting the specs and features of the hybrid phablet. The leaked details have also revealed new variants of the handset and the USB-C type port, which is said to replace the basic microUSB connector.

Previous reports suggested that the next generation Galaxy Note device will come out as one of the most powerful handsets in the market. There were speculations saying that the Galaxy Note 7 will run on the new Snapdragon 823 processor from Qualcomm. However, the new leaked information suggests that the phablet will come with a Snapdragon 820 chipset.

In a report by Android Headlines, another variant of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 has emerged on the Geekbench, with code name "SM-N930R6." The rumored Galaxy Note 7 model is spotted with a Snapdragon 820 processor and an Adreno 530 GPU. What's interesting is that the benchmark suggests that the device will not come with Google's newest operating system, the Android 7.0 Nougat. It is said to run on the current Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.

According to Forbes, there are speculations circulating online saying that Samsung may ditch the microUSB connector in favor of the latest USB-C port. Rumor has it that Samsung is planning to release a new Gear VR headset that will use a USB-C connection.

Meanwhile, Samsung has continued to stay silent with regard to these reports. The South Korean company has yet to confirm the development of the device, much less its release date. However, tech observers believe that the company is currently developing something powerful to compete with the upcoming release of Apple's flagship smartphone, the iPhone 7.

As of now, fans will have to wait for the company to officially announce the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. Until then, all reports are merely just rumors and speculations.
