According to the latest rumors, the sixth novel of renowned author George R. R. Martin for the highly popular book series, "A Song of Ice and Fire" is almost completed. In fact, it is geared up for final revisions and publishing until the final version of the book can be released early next year.
"The Winds of Winter" is the continuation of the events that have taken place in "A Dance with Dragons," which was first published back in 2011. As "A Song of Ice and Fire" book series is the source material of HBO's hit fantasy adventure TV series, "Game of Thrones," many expected that the sixth novel would be released before the sixth season premiere of the series.
The fifth season of "Game of Thrones" has covered much of the events of "A Dance with Dragons," and therefore, the contents of "The Winds of Winter" are expected to appear in Season 6.
However, due to a number of delays in Martin's schedule, Season 6 premiered without the book being released.
According to reports, "The Winds of Winter" was slated for an October 2015 release. Martin's several writing engagements and projects last year were the reasons why the sixth book was never finished.
Although as of the moment, there are reports that Martin has found time to focus on the completion of "The Winds of Winter." In fact, the book is almost completed and ready to be distributed in January 2017.
However, it seems that Martin could be expanding the story of "A Song of Ice and Fire." It is believed that "The Winds of Winter" will be the second to the last entry of the supposed seven-book series.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Martin provided hints that he may continue the story of Westeros beyond "A Dream of Spring," which is supposed to be the seventh and the last book.
