'Supernatural' season 12 episode 3 spoilers: Winchesters go on a hunt; Castiel, Crowley team up

Now that the Winchesters are finally back together after an unfortunate encounter with a representative of the British Men of Letters, it's time to get back on the job. Same old, same old, except that this time, they'll have their mom, Mary (Samantha Smith), beside them.

According to the synopsis on TV Guide, "Supernatural" season 12 episode 3 titled "The Foundry" will see the Winchesters investigating the mystery behind a crying baby and the death it has incited in an abandoned house.

Since this will mark the first time that the three of them will be working together since Mary's return from the afterlife, it will be interesting to witness a whole new side to the Winchester family. Will Dean's (Jensen Ackles) protectiveness towards his mother carry over to this week's episode? And since the enemy is using a baby's cry to lure victims, will Mary prove herself to be an asset to the team or an unexpected liability owing to her motherly instinct? 

The episode preview posted by The CW offered more insight into this week's episode of the long-running horror fantasy series. It looks like a group of witless kids will be summoning the episode's big bad in an abandoned house and will thus be haunted by it one by one.

In one brief scene, Mary seems to have been taken by this evil force and could very well be used against her own sons. The Winchester brothers will be having a rough encounter with the adversary before they finally unravel the mystery behind it and hopefully defeat it before it causes any more damage to their family.

Meanwhile, now that Lucifer's (Rick Springfield) new meat suit has been revealed, Crowley (Mark Sheppard) will stop at nothing to avenge himself on the erstwhile king of hell. Since Castiel (Misha Collins) shares the same sentiment, they will finally be forming the buddy-cop partnership first teased in an earlier interview with Entertainment Weekly. It will also be interesting to see how Lucifer's plans for Crowley's mother Rowena (Ruth Connell) will play into the entire season 12 narrative.

This week's episode of "Supernatural" airs on Thursday, Oct. 27, at 9 p.m. EDT on The CW.
