'12 Monkeys' season 3 spoilers rumors and release date: New character expected to join

After an intriguing second season of the SyFy series "12 Monkeys," many are looking forward to what the next season will present, as a new character is expected to bring excitement.

It was announced that an actor, who is best known for his time travelling role in "Back To The Future" will be making his way to the show. Reports confirmed that Christopher Lloyd will be playing a role in the upcoming season of "12 Monkeys."

Many fans are entertained by the idea of Lloyd entering the world of "12 Monkeys" as it is a setting that is also familiar with time travelling. However, showrunner of the series Terry Matalas shared some disclaimers about his role.

In an interview, Matalas explained that their choice in choosing Lloyd for the role was not due to his involvement in "Back To The Future." She said that the irony in choosing Lloyd for that reason would have somehow ruined their narrative and the vibe of the show. Instead she stated that he was chosen because he fit the character description really well.

She said, "So when we came to this particular character—with this particular set of traits—with this particular heritage—Christopher Lloyd was not only an inspired choice, he was the right choice. Put a photo of Lloyd against a picture of Tom Noonan and there's zero difficulty imagining them as father and son. "

In addition, she also revealed that he will be playing a vital character as he is the cult leader of the 12 Monkeys. This is expected to bring an interesting twist for Cassie and Cole as they deal with an interesting dilemma.

She shared, "The stakes are deeply, deeply personal for Cassie and Cole. It's really a real time travel dilemma, the fundamental question: 'If you knew that your child would one day grow to be the Devil, would you—could you—kill him?'"
