China's Elephone S7 is a Samsung contender; specs include 13-MP camera, Helio X20 processor, Android Marshmallow

When it comes to smartphones, people usually go straight to the top brands like Samsung. But for those who don't know yet, Samsung's Galaxy S7 has a cheaper alternative and it's from the China-based company Elephone. Dubbed Elephone S7, the device looks like a Galaxy S7 Edge.

According to reports, the Elephone S7 comes with a dual-curved design, giving it a front and back curve towards the edge. It's also said to be easy to hold and has a near-zero bezel in front. The new smartphone looks good considering its affordable price.

There are two available variants. One comes with a. 5.2-inch display with 2,450 mAh battery while the other one has a 5.5-inch display with 3,000 mAh battery. Both are reported to feature Corning Gorilla Glass with full HD (1080 p) resolution. Elephone also incorporated the screen with 3D glass which gives off a light-reflecting pattern that is most notable at the back.

The device also gives customers a wide array of color choices. There are four different shades available and this includes blue, gold, black and green. Although the smartphone is without a doubt a winner in terms of design, it's said to be just an average player in terms of specs under the hood.

The Elephone S7 is equipped with a MediaTek Helio X20 deca-core processor and customers can choose from a variant with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage; 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage; and 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. Both come with a microSD card for memory expansion.

As for the camera, both models feature a 13-MP camera with LED flash at the rear. In front is a 5-MP selfie camera. Both are also instilled with dual-SIM support and a fingerprint sensor. The starting price of the Elephone S7 is $139.99 while the highest price is $239.99.
