'Injustice 2' release date, news, rumors: Aqualand, Captain Atom, Red Tornado joining the roster? 'Watchmen' set to make an appearance

More DC comic book characters are expected to join the roster of "Injustice 2." The much awaited fighting video game sequel from NetherRealm Studios is expected to be released in the first quarter of 2017, but the rumors regarding the characters and storyline of "Injustice 2" have already surfaced online as early as now.

As for the latest addition to the "Injustice 2" roster, What Culture made a list of possible heroes that should be included in the sequel. At least three DC superheroes might make it to the cut, each having their own importance and sets of skills that the players might be interested in. These are Aqualad (Kaldur'ahm), Red Tornado and Captain Atom. The online publication also noted Beast Boy and Starfire as possible candidates to join the roster, although the names of these DC characters have already been mentioned in earlier reports.

Aqualand has been known in the DC comic book universe for some time now but started to grow more popular in the "Young Justice" animated TV series. He was known as Aquaman's sidekick and leader of a team of young superheroes. It can be expected that Aqualand will have some of his mentor's Atlantean skills and abilities, although the game may also introduce something new in the character to make him distinctive. 

Captain Atom can also be an interesting addition to the "Injustice 2" roster due to his energy absorption abilities. It is interesting how NetherRealm will show this kind of power in the fighting game as Captain Atom turns the absorbed energy into a counterweapon against his opponents. The character is also known to be Superman's opponent.

On the other hand, Red Tornado is expected to offer something different in the game with his rare air manipulation abilities, as well as his ability to spawn numerous tornadoes directed at his enemies. However, some fans thought that this kind of skill might be challenging to master once Red Tornado is finally included in "Injustice 2."

Meanwhile, Yibada also mentioned the rumored participation of the Watchmen in "Injustice 2." Some of the popular Watchmen members include Rorschach, The Comedian, Night Owl II, Sill Spectre II, Ozymandias and Dr. Manhattan.

According to PvP Line, the official details will come straight from NetherRealm Studios at the upcoming PlayStation Experience (PSX) 2016 this December. The fans are speculating that the highly successful game studio will reveal the demo during the event.
