John Cleese is a British actor probably known for his comedic roles in the "Monty Python" franchise, but rumors have sprung up that he may soon be part of Zack Snyder's DC Universe.

Such speculations came from ComicBookMovie.com, and the outlet guessed that Cleese could be up for a role based on his Twitter activities. Earlier this month, Dennis Lamb reported that DC Films Universe photographer Clay Enos as well as the "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" U.K. Twitter account have followed Cleese on the site, leading fans to wonder what this could possibly mean for the veteran actor.

Now Cleese has followed Zack Snyder and the Batman himself, Ben Affleck, on Twitter. Could this mean that he really is up for the role, or is the comedian simply riding along the hype train?

As for Cleese's role, a lot of characters have been considered as a possibility. When Lamb tweeted about his discovery, he did so with #KingArthur. DC comics actually has a hero who was part of King Arthur's Knights of the Round Table called Shining Knight. He was granted enchanted weapons and a winged horse by Merlin before he went off to battle an ogre. The battle had him frozen in ice and he woke up in modern society as a man out of time.

Others possible characters that have popped up are Glorious Godfrey, Deadman and Doctor Fate. Some even guessed that Cleese's role may not even be a physical one, as he can also be providing a voice for a character.

As of now, only time will tell how the comedy actor might fit into the DC Universe, but fans welcome his addition nonetheless. Stay tuned for more updates on the DC films.

"Justice League" is set for release on Nov. 17, 2017.
