Vikings Season 3 Release Date, Plot Spoilers: King Ragnar Will Seek Conquest Of Paris

As "Vikings" Season 3 returns to History channel on Feb. 19 at 10 p.m., viewers are excited to know whether King Ragnar will be having a reunion with Lagertha, his ex-wife. The Norse ruler has killed Horik and other family members to stop him from becoming the King of Denmark. In the previous season, he and his son Bjorn got hold of Horik's sword.

The official synopsis for the show reads: "With the promise of new land from the English, Ragnar leads his people to an uncertain fate on the shores of Wessex... Ever the restless wanderer, Ragnar is searching for something more, and he finds it in the mythical city of Paris, (which is) rumored to be impenetrable to outside forces. Ragnar and his band of Norsemen must come together to break down its walls and cement the Vikings legend in history."

Ragnar will surprisingly be sparing Erlendur, Horik's son, his life when the show returns in February. Ragnar's group of Norseman will also attempt what Michael Hirst, show creator, describes as the "biggest adventure ever in the historical drama with the raid on Paris."

Aside from the challenge outside, Ragnar will also be facing some serious family issues—his son Bjorn will slowly be withdrawing himself from him and will get closer to his uncle Rollo.

In an interview with Yahoo! News, Hirst said, "Our leads start in a bad place. They're in dysfunctional relationships of one kind or another and there's a lot of resolving to do."

"We keep increasing the scale as they did historically. We started with one long boat and 30 warriors attacking an isolated monastery and Paris involves 100 boats and 3,000 warriors. All are in serious jeopardy. Killing people off is inevitable," he added.
