Huawei G9 Plus release date, specs rumors 2016: Unveiled in China; specs include 5.5-inch display, fingerprint sensor, 16MP rear camera

Huawei has just unveiled a new device in China, and this time, it's dubbed as the G9 Plus. A successor to the G9 Lite that was released in May, the G9 Plus is introduced as a mid-range device that is a capable one.

As detailed in a report, the device sports a 5.5-inch full HD display with a 2.5D curved glass and a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. It's 7.3mm thick and weighs 160 grams. Sporting a metal unibody design with very thin bezels, the smartphone is said to be available in its hometown in various color options which include white, black, gold, silver and rose gold.

Under the hood, one will find a 2 GHz octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor paired with 3 GB of RAM and a native storage of 32 GB which can be expanded further up to 128 GB via a microSD card slot. It's also said that there's going to be a 4 GB variant that is coming.

The Huawei G9 Plus is pre-installed with an Android 6.0 Marshmallow topped with the company's Emotion UI (EMUI) 4.1. Its camera features include an 8-megapixel front shooter and a 16-megapixel rear unit with support for 4K video recording. A fingerprint sensor is also found on the back.

Looking at the front, one will notice that the device does not come with any physical buttons. The only physical buttons incorporated are found on its right-hand side which are the power/lock and volume rocker buttons. Giving the device its power and life is a 3,340mAh battery which, the company claims, will offer one and a half day of heavy use. Connectivity options include 4G, LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and USB.

The variant with 3 GB of RAM is said to come with a price tag of $361. There is no word yet on how much the one with 4 GB of RAM costs. The device will be available in China beginning Thursday, Aug. 25.
