Reese Witherspoon: I believe in heaven and angels

Actress Reese Witherspoon opened up about her Christian faith as she revealed that she believes in angels with wings and halo and in the afterlife.

The Academy award-winner who shot to fame in the blockbuster movie "Legally Blonde" appeared together with hip hop artist Common, comedian Negin Farsad, and hairstylist Adir on the latest episode of "Chelsea," Chelsea Handler's talk show on Netflix.

"I truly believe that you're on a spiritual path," said the 40-year-old actress. "We were born alone and we die alone," she added.

She also shared her thoughts on what happens after death.

"I think we go to heaven," the actress said and added, "I mean I think you get an angel and the wings and the thing and a halo and all of that."

She attested that her own life experiences proved her right on her convictions.

"I really believe it," she went on. "I've had car accidents, I've given birth to babies, I swear my grandparents are in the room, I've seen my grandfather in a theatre in New York when I was on stage. I know it," the actress continued.

Witherspoon also believes in the importance of attending church services and raising her children with the same Christian upbringing she got as a kid from Nashville.

"[Church] takes you out of your personal experience and universalises it," she told People magazine.

Last year, Daily Mail spotted Witherspoon on her way to attend a Sunday service at a church in Los Angeles with her husband, Jim Toth, their two-year-old son, Tennessee, their 15-year-old daughter, Ava, and Deacon, Witherspoon's 11-year-old son with ex-husband, Ryan Philippe.

She also appeared in the film "The Good Lie" two years ago about the refugees of Sudan. Witherspoon believes that the said film carried a Christian message of faith and hope. According to the Catholic News Agency (CNA), Witherspoon took her daughter along with her as she visited the Kakuma refugee camp after the movie's filming.

The actress-producer supports organizations with children's and women's advocacies, such as Save the Children and Children's Defense Fund. She also became Avon Products' first Global Ambassador.
