The preview for "Dragon Ball Super" episode 45 has been released, showing Trunks, Goten and Goku facing off with a strange new villain.

At the end of episode 44, the nefarious alien Grill created Copy Vegeta, cloned from the Saiyan prince, by dousing the original Vegeta with a mysterious purple sludge. In episode 45, Goten and Trunks, safe for the moment from the Superhuman Water, have to fight Copy Vegeta and will resort to some clever trickery to defeat their new foe.

As Copy Vegeta is so much bigger and more powerful than the two young protagonists, they have to call on someone who can fight Vegeta's evil doppelgänger on even ground. In the preview for episode 45, Goten and Trunks are seen fusing together to form Gotenks, a much more powerful being than the two pint-sized Saiyans.

The ability to do the Fusion Dance and form Gotenks was taught to Goten and Trunks by the martial arts expert Goku. But while Gotenks, who calls himself "The Hero of Justice," is immensely powerful, the fusion is temporary and Gotenks can only stick around for thirty minutes. This means that Goten and Trunks will have to defeat Copy Vegeta in a limited timeframe if they hope to survive the encounter with the dangerous clone.

Apart from getting help from Gotenks, the two heroes will also receive some support from the real Vegeta, who is intent on taking down his clone. However, after Copy Vegeta was formed, the real Vegeta's power and energy have been rapidly dwindling. As long as his clone is alive, Vegeta will get weaker and weaker. In the episode 45 trailer, Vegeta appears to be gradually disappearing, with one of his forearms already gone.

The promo also shows Goten and Trunks giving the fight against Copy Vegeta all they have. Fortunately, by the end of the teaser, Goku has arrived and is preparing to take down Vegeta's evil purple twin himself.

Find out how the battle ends when "Dragon Ball Super" episode 45 airs Sunday, May 29 on Fuji TV.
