The new NBA season has begun and teams are now preparing themselves for a long campaign. Some are playing to get spots in this year's playoffs, while others are simply trying to rebuild and regain their lost glory.

The Los Angeles Lakers fit in to the latter. According to rumors, they might be cashing in on a big name to help speed up the process.

Talks are now linking San Antonio Spurs forward LaMarcus Aldridge to a move away from Texas, and the Lakers may be his likely destination.

Los Angeles already showed a lot of promise, with a big win in their opening night game against the Houston Rockets. However, everyone knows that there is still a long way to go. Adding a big name like Aldridge will definitely help.

At the moment, the Lakers' line-up looks very promising as they have young stars who are expected to carry the load in the future.

D'Angelo Russell, Jordan Clarkson and Julius Randle are back to help lead the team, while Brandon Ingram joined the squad after being drafted by the Lakers.

Adding Aldridge will definitely give them more options in the power forward or center positions and his outside range would allow the slashers in the team to have more room to operate.

It is no secret what Aldridge brings to the table if he makes this move to the Lakers. His averages are solid at 19.3 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game.

He also made a big splash in his first game this season as he scored 26 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as the Spurs crush the new-look Golden State Warriors at the Oracle Arena.

The Lakers are surely hoping that there could be a way for the deal to happen, and it is likely that they will lose more than one player if they want to make this trade possible.
