Pastor Compares Death Of Michael Brown To Death Of Jesus

One pastor speaking at the funeral of deceased teen Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri compared Brown's death to the death of Jesus Christ.

Pastor Charles Ewing, the uncle of Brown, spoke at the service held Monday at the Friendly Temple Missionary Baptist Church in St. Louis, noting parallels between his nephew's death and the death of Jesus Christ as described in the Bible.

"Michael Brown was 18 years old. He was shot around noon. Our Lord and Savior hung on the cross — now compare our time frame 12 o'clock to the Jewish time frame which is at the sixth hour. Michael Brown died on August the 9th. Jesus hung on the cross between the sixth and the 9th hour," Ewing told the crowd of hundreds who gathered for Brown's funeral.

Ewing went on to discuss numerology in relation to coordinates in St. Louis, Brown's death and the Bible, as well as comparing Brown's death to the story of Cain and Abel.

"Michael Brown's blood is crying from the ground, crying for vengeance, crying for justice," Ewing added.

Friends of Brown also spoke at Monday's service, including one family friend who said the teenager had been evangelizing on the day he was shot.

"Michael was a big guy, but he was a kind, gentle soul, and before he left this Earth, the day that he was killed, he was out spreading the word of Jesus Christ," the family friend said, according to WGN-TV.

Brown was shot by police officer Darren Wilson on August 9 in Ferguson, Missouri while Wilson was responding to a call of a robbery at a convenience store. While the police department claims there was a scuffle between the officer and Brown before the unarmed teen was shot, members of the community argue Brown was a victim of excessive police force. A federal investigation is underway to determine what happened when Brown was shot on August 9.
