While the Galaxy Note 3 is considered as Samsung's premium phablet, the Galaxy S5 is actually the Korean tech giant's flagship smartphone. In a comparison, it is clear that the Note 3 overwhelms its smaller sibling, but this is not only because of its bigger size.

Design

Since they both come from Samsung, the Galaxy S5 and Note 3 share many design traits. One major similarity is that they have plastic bodies and almost no metal. However, the Galaxy S5 has dimples on its plastic back panel while the Note 3 has faux leather on its back with a stitch running around its edge. The Note 3 also has a stylus which comes in handy especially when drawing on the screen.

Display

Comparing their displays, the Galaxy S5 falls firmly in the smartphone category with its Super AMOLED screen that measures 5.1 inches, and comes with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density to 432 pixels per inch. As for the bigger Note 3 it has a Super AMOLED screen measuring 5.7 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 386 pixels per inch.

Specs

The chipset on the Galaxy S5 is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801version which is coupled with a Quad-core Krait 400 CPU clocked at 2.5 GHz and an Adreno 330 GPU. As for the Note 3 it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset, coupled with a Quad-core Krait 400 clocked at 2.3 GHz and an Adreno 330 GPU.

Memory

The Note 3 has a memory slot which can be used to add up to 64 GB of external storage while the slot on the Galaxy S5 can be used to add up to 128 GB of storage. In terms of RAM, the Galaxy S5 has 2 GB and the Note 3 has 3 GB.

Price

The Galaxy Note 3 comes with a $149 price tag when coupled with a two-year contract, while the Galaxy S5 costs $199 with a similar contract.
