'Agent Carter' season 3 news, spoilers: Hayley Atwell hints at possible new home for cancelled Marvel series

"Agent Carter" star Hayley Atwell has once again given hope to fans of the recently cancelled series that Peggy and the rest of the gang will someday be back on the small screen.
The actress, who also plays Agent Peggy Carter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films, was recently at DenverCon where she spoke to the audience about "Agent Carter," which was cancelled in May.
According to a report by Hypable, Atwell said that "everyone," including Marvel Entertainment, is looking for a new home for the series, which aired two seasons on ABC.
A fan who attended the event posted about Atwell's panel on Twitter. Twitter user AKA Erin wrote, "Hayley said in her panel that everyone, including Marvel, are fighting to find a new home for Agent Carter."
Earlier this month, Atwell appeared at MegaCon in Orlando, Florida, where she declared that she was 100 percent committed to reprising her role as Peggy should the series be brought back.
"I love Peggy," the actress said, as quoted by Entertainment Weekly. "I love the people that were working on this project together. The fans are incredibly warm and welcoming. And it would be an absolute privilege and honor to bring her back for the fans."
Hinting at what viewers can expect from a potential "Agent Carter" season 3, Atwell said, "There was talk of season 3 of going further back into her past."
According to the actress, the "Agent Carter" showrunners had been talking about introducing a "twist" which supposedly had something to do with the protagonist's family.
"They suggested there would be more to do with my brother," she added.
While Atwell will be starring in the upcoming ABC legal drama "Conviction," the actress said that she would be willing to shoot on weekends should "Agent Carter" be revived. She also revealed that she was willing to portray Peggy should the character get her own MCU stand-alone.
Neither Marvel nor ABC has released official word about a possible "Agent Carter" season 3.
