AMD Radeon RX 490 release date, specs news update: benchmark leak teases GPUs insane power; card to arrive next week?
It looks like highly anticipated AMD Radeon RX 490 will give the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 a run for its money, at least according to a leaked benchmark listing.

An unannounced AMD graphics card has popped up on the Ashes of the Singularity benchmark database, in which it churned out performance numbers comparable to that of its high-end Nvidia rival.
This mystery AMD graphics processing unit (GPU) was tested in the crazy, standard and low setting with both the DirectX 11 and 12 to showcase its all-around performance.
However, the results listed for the purported AMD Radeon RX 490 were only for the one tested with the 1080P DX 12, in which it churned out 8,400 points, which is on par with the GeForce GTX 1080.
The listing appears to have been taken down, which convinced WCCFTtech that this AMD graphics card is not supposed to be for public knowledge yet.
Either way, the performance of the supposed AMD Radeon RX 490 shows that it could actually be the first one in its lineup to go head to head with the GeForce GTX 1080.
The abovementioned publication says that it can even surpass the Nvidia heavyweight taking into account that the drivers will be ready.
So far, the information known about the AMD Radeon RX 490 is that will be able to support 4K resolution gaming and will even be powerful enough to provide a virtual reality (VR) experience.
It might have a bus width beyond 256 bits and since it is can take on the GeForce GTX 1080, the price of the AMD Radeon RX 490 should be comparable to that of its rival.
As for the technology it will be built on, it is being reported that this unannounced AMD GPU will use Vega 10, making it the first of its kind.
With regard to the release date, a retailer listing of the AMD Radeon RX 490 that popped up a few days ago suggests that it will be revealed later this month.
It is believed that the public event that AMD set for Dec. 13 could be the day it will unveil its latest creation.
