AMD RX 490 release date, specs news 2016: Accidentally gets revealed; gamers could not be more excited

AMD's official website has accidentally revealed the RX 490 when it appeared on the website's listing even though it hasn't been announced.

Fans were surprised to find out about the upcoming graphics card after AMD's supposed slip-up. The name has since been removed from the website's listing, but a certain Reddit user was able to take a screenshot of the RX 490 in the listing and shared it online.

Some people speculate that the RX 490 will be AMD's answer to its competitor, NVIDIA's GTX 1080. The GTX 1080 is a powerful GPU. It is considered to be one of NVIDIA's top graphics cards which left AMD and its RX series in the dust.

The RX 490 is speculated to be more powerful than all the other graphics cards in the RX series, and fans speculate that it will be at least powerful enough to support virtual reality (VR) gaming. After all, the GTX 1080 is capable of VR gaming, so how can AMD expect to compete if the 490 can't do the same as well?

Gamers that want to up their systems to a 4K gaming capacity could possibly rely on the RX 490 as it is (possibly) capable of handling all the heavy-duty requirements that those games have. If AMD is able to up their game and get the RX 490 to be on par with the GTX 1080, then NVIDIA seems to have a worthy opponent in its hands.

People have been speculating that the RX 490 will be entering the market with a bit of an expensive price tag, but seeing as the GTX 1080 is also one pricey graphics card, it would make sense that its competitor would be worth just as much, if anything, a cheaper price tag may even help with a boost in sales.

There haven't been announcements about the RX490 from AMD yet, but fans are expecting an announcement soon.
