Apple iPad mini 5 release date news: iPad mini 4 successor launching earlier than expected, June launch planned?

The Apple iPad mini 5 will be one of the products to be showcased at the upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) this June, according to the latest reports.
Although many believe that Apple is forgoing the iPad mini line as well as the iPad Air family to pursue the iPad Pro, there are rumors that claim the small tablet is still part of Apple's product line.
There hasn't been any update about the release of the iPad mini 5, but it is expected that the device will soon be unveiled by Apple. Even so, the company is rumored to go for a WWDC launch, which is earlier than expected.
The iPad mini 5's predecessor, iPad mini 4, was announced and went on sale September last year. Apple usually waits for a year to update its product, but if the rumors are right, fans of the iPad mini line won't have to wait that long.
With regards to the specs and features of the iPad mini 5, reports say that it will boast a much thinner build—no surprise there knowing Apple's love to slim down its releases. The iPad mini 4 was at 6.1mm, but the new iPad is said to be only 5mm thin.
Apple has allegedly found a way to keep the tablet thin while maintaining a considerable battery life. Much of it will be due to the A10 processor, which will surely be much more powerful than the A8 on the iPad mini 4.
The chipset is expected to improve the overall performance of the iPad mini 5 as well as its battery life. Another upgrade on the device is its alleged own Apple Pencil, like the one on the iPad Pro.
The iPad mini 5 will allegedly be fronting a 7000-Series aluminum frame, which will give it a sleeker look and durable build at the same time.
The iPad mini 5 is expected to be unveiled with the purported iPad Air 3 at the WWDC scheduled June 13 to 17 in San Francisco, California.
