Asus Transformers 3 release date news: Microsoft Surface Pro's insanely specced rival to arrive August

The Microsoft Surface Pro line's worst nightmare will soon materialize in the form of the Asus Transformers 3, a two-in-one device that does not look all too different from Microsoft's popular hybrid.

The Asus Transformers 3 Pro physically resembles its rival as it comes with a detachable keyboard, a kickstand, as well as its own version of the Surface Pen, dubbed unsurprisingly as the Asus Pen.

The Asus Transformers 3 was created with portability in mind. The device is only 6.9 mm thin and weights 695 grams. The body is made of aluminum, which should make it durable despite its thinness.

Despite the lightweight build, the Asus Transformers 3 houses the latest Intel Core processors that come with i5 and i7, both promising snappy performance and power. Add to that the 8GB of RAM for increased potency.

The base model for the Asus Transformers 3 comes with 4 GB of RAM with the Intel i5 processor and 256 GB. The high-end model comes with the i7 chipset, 8 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage.

It comes with a Thunderbolt 3 port, which should make it easy for users to connect various secondary devices. It also helps the USB-C port for faster data transfer. The battery life lasts for nine hours, according to Asus.

The Asus Transformers 3 also comes with a fingerprint scanner, which makes use of Windows 10's Windows Hello feature, the biometric system of the operating system that also supports iris scanning.

The device also guarantees amazing sound experience with is built-in Harmon Kardon speakers. Virtual Reality (VR) support via its Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 GPU is also integrated.

The pricing for Asus Transformers 3 starts with $799. It is expected to hit the market this August. The Asus Transformers 3 also comes with two more versions.

The first one is the Pro version, which offers 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB memory. There's also a smaller model called the Asus Transformers 3 Mini, which is powered by the Atom X5 processor and boasts an 11-hour battery life span for every charge.
