Asus ZenFone 3 release date, specs rumors: Phone will arrive in 2 variants?

Asus is gearing up for the release of the upcoming ZenFone 3. According to reports, the much-anticipated new model of the ZenFone series is expected to be revealed at the Computex 2016 event, which will happen in June. One interesting feature of the upcoming smartphone is its VR compatibility. Rumor has it that the VR headset will be released during the third quarter of 2016.
According to the report, the company is said to be partnering with another tech giant that has the capability of manufacturing the VR headset for them. Asus is planning to develop a HoloLens-style Virtual Reality headset that will work with the upcoming ZenFone 3.
Aside from the VR-compatibility feature, Asus is also planning on adding advanced features on the device to make sure it competes well with the leading manufacturers that have been dominating the smartphone market today. Companies like Samsung and Apple have released line after line to make sure they maintain their position at the top.
Meanwhile, although Asus has yet to confirm these rumors or provide any details with regard to the upcoming handset, there are already reports suggesting that the upcoming device may be released in two variants – the Asus Z012D and Asus Z010DD. The upcoming handheld device has also appeared on the benchmark test that was conducted by GFXBench.
The Asus Z010DD is said to carry a 5.9-inch HD display and will run on a Snapdragon 615, along with its Adreno 405 GPU. On the other hand, the Asus Z012D will come with a 5.5-inch HD screen and will be powered by the hexacore Snapdragon chipset, along with the Adreno 510 graphics. Rumor has it that both variants will come with a 12-megapixel rear snapper and a 5-megapixels selfie camera.
There has been no official announcement as of yet with regard to its release date but fans believe that the company will reveal the phone in May or June.
