The Marvel Cinematic Universe is one of the most successful movie franchises in Hollywood today. Every year, Marvel Studios churns out hit after hit and has established a lot of refreshed interest in comic book superheroes. The Russo brothers, who are directing "The Avengers: Infinity War," talk about how that movie will bring an end — and new beginnings — to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

According to IGN, "Infinity War" will serve as the culmination of all the Marvel movies since the first "Iron Man" movie released in 2008. By the time "Infinity War" comes out, it would have been ten years since the first Marvel movie, and some fans can expect to see the curtains closing for Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), and Chris Hemsworth (Thor).

One of the directors, Anthony Russo, had this to say about the movie: "In being a culmination, these movies are in some ways going to be an end to certain things, and in some ways, they're going to be the beginning of certain things." On what those "certain things" are, the Russo brothers declined to comment, but it could very well mean that audiences will be looking at a whole new team of Avengers soon or even at a whole new batch of heroes.

If viewers look at the comics, the current incarnation of the Avengers barely even has Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, or Thor. The team consists of a new Captain America (Falcon/Sam Wilson), Spider-Man (Miles Morales), a female Thor (Jane Foster), and a Muslim Captain Marvel (Kamala Khan) to name a few. It's not that farfetched to think that viewers will be looking at an all new Avengers roster by the time "Infinity War" ends.

Though the next couple of "Avengers" films were initially branded as "Infinity War Parts 1 and 2," the title of the next movie was changed to "Avengers: Infinity War." The title of "Avengers 4," on the other hand, is yet to be revealed.

"The Avengers: Infinity War" is set to premiere on May 4, 2018.
