'Blindspot' season 2 air date, spoilers news update: Jane Doe's real name to be revealed; Archie Panjabi joins cast

The wait for "Blindspot" season 2 is coming to an end. The series is set to return with brand new episodes and fans who were left hanging from the previous season finale will finally be able to know what happens next to Jane Doe (Jaimie Alexander).

According to spoilers, Jane's real identity will be revealed soon. Fans may recall that Jane was introduced in the series as a beautiful woman with no memory of who she is or how she got inside a bag with naked in the middle of New York's Time Square.

All throughout the first season, Jane's identity remained a mystery. But season 2 may change that as more revelations regarding her real name, backstory and history with a mysterious organization will surface. The upcoming season will also explore more about Orion.

But fans shouldn't expect the series to clear up all these mysteries quickly. Showrunner Martin Gero divulged in an interview with Hidden Remote that Jane's past will not be the sole focus of all the episodes in season 2. He said that they will expand on the issue as the year goes on. Expect some flashbacks too as it will be the key to vital information.

Spoilers also said that "Blindspot" season 2 will pick up three months after the events from the season 1 finale. A lot happened in the first season including the death of Jane's former boss, Bethany Mayfair (Marianne Jean-Baptiste). Jane accidentally killed her and now she must deal with the aftermath.

A new face is also said to be coming in the show. "The Good Wife" actress Archie Panjabi will be portraying the role of Nas Kamal, head of an National Security Agency department who will help in fixing the team after the roller coaster ride of events last season. It's still unclear though if Panjabi's character is on the good side or the villain side.

"Blindspot" season 2 will air on Wednesday, Sept. 14, at 10 p.m. on NBC.
