'Bones' season 12 air date, plot spoilers: Cam and Arastoo get married; Brennan's ex-boyfriend returns

"Bones" season 12 is going to be the final installment of the series. Fans who have followed the show since day one are sad but FOX promises a great season finale.

As detailed in FOX's official synopsis, the show is going to run a total of 12 episodes and it will be packed with exciting serial killer storylines, undercover adventures, a wedding and even death. While the rest of the plot remains a mystery, it is no secret that Dr. Camille "Cam" Saroyan (Tamara Taylor) and Arastoo Vaziri (Pejman Vahdat) will be tying the knot in the upcoming season.

Spoilers revealed that unlike the wedding of Temperance "Bones" Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz), the nuptials of Cam and Arastoo will be a small one. Co-showrunner Jonathan Collier told TV Line that they made the wedding a "low-key" affair because "Bones" fans already saw a big one with Brennan and Booth. Collier also teased that it's going to be "exciting and different."

Moreover, reports detailed that someone from Brennan's past is making a big comeback. Her former boyfriend, Tim Sullivan (Eddie McClintock) will be stirring up drama to the crime procedural series. Fans may recall that Sullivan left after Brennan turned him down and said no to a life of cruising together to the Caribbean. Ever since then, Sullivan has been absent from the show.

There is no word yet on what will Sullivan's agenda be on his return but it is speculated to be some sort of trouble for Booth and Brennan. Their relationship may be tested with the return of the ex. McClintock gave his fans a heads up via Twitter earlier this month for his character's return.

Other spoilers suggested that Zack Addy's (Eric Millegan) role in the kidnapping of Brennan will also be touched. Before season 11 closed, Brennan was abducted by her intern. But nobody expected Addy to have any part in the event so many are curious as to why Addy would have done such thing.

To find out more, fans will have to watch out for "Bones" season 12 which will premiere in early 2017 on FOX.
