American police sitcom "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" is set to return soon for its fourth season. But more than its return to the small screen, an even more exciting bit of news has landed.

According to reports, Fox network announced during the Television Critics Association's summer press tour that "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" will be having a crossover event with sitcom series "New Girl." It only means that one of the episodes in "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" will be twice the fun and twice the laughter.

The episode, which is set to run for one hour, will air on Oct. 11. It will be a two-episode arc featuring Zooey Deschanel as Jess Day and the rest of the gang traveling to the city of New York. In Big Apple, they will cross paths with Detective Jake Peralta played by Andy Samberg.

It's not known though how the meeting will take place or what story plot is going to come to fruition, but fans can be assured that it's going to be an epic meetup. Perhaps Jess is set to have a run-in with the law?

"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" co-creator Dan Goor said that the crossover is an exciting one although it's supposed to be a secret. But now that it's out, fans should watch out how they will merge two comedy series in a one-hour episode. Goor also mentioned how they are all huge fans of "New Girl" over at "Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

"But in all seriousness, we're all huge fans of NEW GIRL here at the Nine-Nine, and we're excited to see our characters interact and to work with their incredible writers and producers. And also to see what their craft services are like, compared to ours," said Goor.

"New Girl" creator Elizabeth Meriwether also shared her thoughts about the upcoming crossover. She said that she is aware of the big expectations for the merge, but she informs ahead that disappointments from everyone are inevitable.

While "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" returns for its fourth installment, "New Girl" will be back on Fox for its season 6. Both will premiere on Sept. 20.
