'Chicago Med' season 2 air date, plot spoilers: April's condition affects her relationship; Maggie's family to be introduced

Will April tell Tate about her health condition? | NBC

The return of "Chicago Med" season 2 is almost here and fans will finally find out what happens next after the previous season finale.

Executive producer Diana Frolov teased that the moment that fans have been waiting for has finally arrived. Sexton is getting a storyline. In fact, she's getting a long arc about her health status.

As fans may recall, Nurse April Sexton (Yaya DaCosta) discovered that she has tuberculosis. This condition of hers will lead her to be anxious because she could be contagious.

When season 2 arrives, Sexton will be avoiding her boyfriend, Tate Jenkins (Deron J. Powell), and his son to avoid infecting them. And even though her condition is latent, she will still have fears of being contagious. She will try to convince herself that she will be of no harm but spoilers said that as she continues to live on, her health disease will move from latent to active status.

The question now is when will Sexton reveal the truth to Jenkins? It seems like the more she keeps it to herself, the more it will affect her relationship with him. Jenkins may end up wondering Sexton is suddenly avoiding him.

Other spoilers also revealed that season 2 will be introducing more of Maggie Lockwood's (Marlyne Barrett) family. She will be taking Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) with her to her family reunion. There he will meet Maggie's sister, Denise Lockwood (guest star Alexandra Grey). As the show progresses, buried secrets of the family will surface.

The synopsis for the season premiere also detailed that Dr. Halstead will be caught up in some drama with fourth-year medical student Jeff Clarke (guest star Jeff Hephner) and it looks like it has something to do with his past history with Dr. Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVito).

"Chicago Med" season 2 will premiere on Thursday, Sept. 22 at 9 p.m. EDT on NBC.
