"Code Black" season 2 will have some interesting guest stars coming its way. The list includes Camryn Manheim from "The Practice," Eric Roberts from "The Dark Knight" and "The Expendables," and Alexandra Grey from "When We Rise."

Earlier this month, the show cast the very charismatic Rob Lowe ("Parks and Recreation," "The Grinder") as a series regular, so fans can expect that the production isn't holding anything back next season.

Lowe will play Col. Ethan Willis, a combat doctor for the U.S. military who finds his way into the Angels Memorial Hospital to teach the crew what the military has learned about combat medicine. Col. Willis is said to be aggressive and not too fond of following the rules — something that Dr. Leanne Rorish (Marcia Gay Harden) accepts with full enthusiasm.

As for the three new guest actors, Deadline reported that they will be starring in a particular episode titled "Life and Limb." Manheim will play Alice, a woman who turns into an emotional wreck after her truck driver husband gets into an accident. Roberts will play Mario's (Ben Hollingsworth) opportunistic father, Vince Savetti, who will try to hustle Mario into a shady investment. Grey will play Beth, a transgender woman who finds herself going to the ER after experiencing stomach pains; the incident is said to force her to remember and confront her past. It's also interesting to note that Grey herself is a transgender actress.

Aside from the upcoming guest stars, viewers predict that Lowe's casting may likely lead to a rise in ratings as the actor has a strong following and a reputation for being quite the looker. After his Golden Globe-nominated show "The Grinder" was cancelled, Lowe is still on the prowl for more gigs.

"Code Black" season 2 will air every Wednesday starting Sept. 28 on CBS.
