'Code Black' season 2 spoilers, plot news: Cast lineup changes; two series regulars no longer returning

\"Code Black\" | CBS

American medical drama television series "Code Black" is returning soon to the small screen for its second season. Fans who have been following the show are looking forward to watching new episodes already. However, viewers must take note that when the show returns sometime this fall, there will be some major changes.

According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, the cast lineup has been rearranged by the producers in an effort to help put the show in a pedestal and bring in a broader audience. This led to the removal of two series regulars, Bonnie Somerville and Raza Jaffrey who played the roles of characters Christa and Neal, respectively.

But not all seem happy with the creative decision of the producers as some of the fans expressed their disappointment with the changes. Executive producer Michael Seitzman addressed the clamor of the fans by saying that he, too, found it sad that they had to make some changes.

As detailed in TVLine, Seitzman said that losing both Somerville and Jaffrey "sucks for sure," but he reassured everyone that he will do his best to make the series better especially since most of the cast members are still present. There will also be new characters that will be added including regular doctors and recurring interns.

TV Over Mind noted that exciting new storylines are coming to "Code Black" season 2. Aside from that, a big guest cast is expected so fans will have to stay tuned to find out who it will be. A male co-lead for Marcia Gay Harden is also coming while Jillian Murray, who played as surgical resident Heather Pinkley, will be returning.

"Code Black" has been ordered by CBS for a full 22-episode season and though no official date has been revealed yet, Seitzman hinted that the first episode of the second season will return on Sept. 21. It's a few months' wait but for fans, it will be worth it.
