'Daredevil' season 3 release date news: No new season until after 'The Defenders'?
Although "Daredevil" had two successful runs on Netflix so far, the much-awaited "Daredevil" season 3 might have to be held off to give way to a much bigger event, which is the mini-series "The Defenders."
The show was thought up at the same time "Daredevil" was and is expected to be released next year. Actor Charlie Cox, who plays the titular character, will be on "The Defenders" in great capacity.
It is said that Netflix is actually working on "The Defenders" and Cox's time is devoted to that right now, of course. Even "Daredevil" showrunners Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez are working on the miniseries in the same role.
With that said, it is entirely plausible that "Daredevil" season 3 will not be aired as soon as fans expect. Instead, they will be getting "The Defenders" first, which isn't a bad thing since the Man without Fear will be in it.
"The Defenders" centers on the titular foursome namely Daredevil, Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones).
However, it is definitely worrying to think that even though Ritter is on the show, her eponymous show was already renewed. The actress herself confirmed that she will head right into "Jessica Jones" season 2 after "The Defenders."
It appears that it's not the case for "Daredevil" season 3. Back in April, Cox admitted during a Netflix meet and greet event via Independent that "We don't know if there's going to be a season three."
In the past, he also said that "Daredevil" can't end without an iconic villain popping up the show. He was referring to Bullseye, who is one of the hero's most famous enemies.
At the moment, the fate of "Daredevil" season 3 hangs in the balance. Fans do not lose hope though, considering the stellar second season that featured The Punisher (Jon Bernthal).
Filmmaker and comic book writer Kevin Smith even want to direct an episode of "Daredevil" season 3. For now, it seems that fans will have to wait a while to know what's next for the Man without Fear.
