'Days of Our Lives' spoilers, plot news: Aiden set to be district attorney; Chad grieves

Will Hope be forced to confess to the murder of Stefano? | NBC

NBC's "Days of Our Lives" is currently on hiatus due to the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, but it will be back after two weeks. While waiting, fans can check out spoilers on what will happen next in the town of Salem.

Intense episodes are expected when the show returns. According to spoiler reports, Aiden (Daniel Cosgrove) will be set as the new district attorney. This isn't particularly good news for Hope (Kristian Alfonso) and Rafe (Galen Gering) as they know that they are the ones responsible for the death of Stefano (Joseph Mascolo).

Fans may recall that Hope shot Stefano, and Rafe was the one who helped her hide the body. Aside from that, they also framed Stefano's son, Andre (Thaao Penghlis) for the murder of his own father. He was brought to jail for something that he did not do, but he is determined to get his revenge through Aiden.

As soon as Aiden step into his new position, he will reportedly use his power to force Hope to confess to the murder of Stefano. But will Aiden succeed in his plan in capturing Hope? Will Hope find her way out of the mess?

While turmoil awaits Hope, Chad (Billy Flynn) is already going through the grieving process. Spoilers reveal that Chad has finally received the confirmation of Abby's (Kate Mansi) death. Although, fans know that Abby isn't really dead. However, Chad doesn't know this, and now, he's drowning in sadness, guilt, and depression which makes it difficult for him to look after their son, Thomas.

Chad's fall will cause concern for Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) who is thinking of Thomas' well-being. Clearly, Chad is not in the right condition to take care of Thomas. And even if Jennifer herself is grieving, she is willing to take Thomas for a while until Chad can pick himself up again.

But will Chad allow that to happen? Thomas is all that he has left now in memory of Abby. Losing his son by his side might make him more depressed. But at the same time, he knows that Thomas needs to be in the right hands.

"Days of Our Lives" will return with new episodes starting Aug. 22 on NBC.
