'Deadpool 2' producer Simon Kinberg talks about the movie and casting Cable

"Deadpool" proved to be a massive success for Fox as it is one of the highest grossing R-rated movies of all time. The project took about 10 years to develop, but the wait has definitely paid off. "Deadpool" is now bigger than ever, and producer Simon Kinberg takes some of his time to talk about the upcoming sequel.
In an interview with Slash Film, Kinberg talks about the direction where the "Deadpool" sequel will go. One thing that sets Deadpool apart from other superheroes is that he actually breaks the fourth wall, and he's aware that he's starring in a movie. It looks like the self-awareness of Deadpool is still carrying over to the sequel as Kinberg says, "I think 'Deadpool 2' will comment on anything that's happening in movies today especially in superhero movies ... The sort of glut or saturation of these movies and the proliferation of sequels is definitely something we'll play around with."
The superhero genre is booming as of now, and comic book fans could not be happier. Hollywood is busting out almost four movies a year, and those plans have been set all the way to the year 2020. It would be classic Deadpool fashion if he gives a commentary on the world of superhero movies and the ongoing fight for intellectual properties.
In the end-credits scene of "Deadpool," viewers were also teased about another classic X-Men character appearing in the sequel: Cable. Deadpool has always had a fun "buddy cop" relationship with Cable in the comics, and Kinberg talks about who they're going to cast for the film. "I've seen rumors from about everybody from Arnold Schwarzenegger to I can't even remember," said Kinberg. "We haven't cast him is the truth."
"Deadpool 2" is still in its early pre-production phase and is set to be released in 2018.
