Those who were hoping to see renowned actor Stephen Lang as Cable in the "Deadpool 2" may be in for bad news as the actor himself stated it is unlikely for him to take on the role.

Lang was one of the actors who proposed to bring to life the telekinetic and telepathic mutant, but the actor now thinks that, despite being fit for the role, he won't get the "Deadpool 2" gig.

The actor said that his involvement in the mega-successful "Avatar" will get in the way of him becoming Cable in the highly-anticipated sequel.

"I think it's highly unlikely that they would ever give me the part, for a number of reasons, one of which being that it's the same studio as Avatar. It's conceivable it would be a scheduling conflict," the actor told Cinema Blend.

Despite the possibility of the Cable role in "Deadpool 2" slipping away from him, Lang promised that if he indeed got the role, he will do his absolute best to give the character justice.

"But you know, what I've said is that if they did give me the part, they'd be very satisfied – because I'll play the hell out of the part. But if they don't give me the part, then I can be magnanimous in defeat, compliment the actor who does get the part, and console myself with four sequels to Avatar," he said.

Lang is not all over the idea of playing Cable in "Deadpool 2." Outside of the tweet he sent out nominating himself for the iconic role, it has been the fans who have been very supportive of him nabbing the part.

The character of Lang in "Avatar" was believed to have died in the first film. But from what the actor said, he will very much be part of the upcoming films from the series.
