'Destiny 2' release date, DLC update news: Developer to focus more on DLC plans than sequels

Ever since game developer Bungie released the critically acclaimed video game, "Destiny," in 2014, fans have been waiting for the company to make a follow-up title. However, Bungie is committed to concentrating on the current title by creating expansion packs, which may delay the development of the sequel.

Despite the company's lack of interest in the second installment, fans are hoping that they will get significant information from Bungie about the highly anticipated "Destiny 2." As of now, the company is focusing on the upcoming DLC pack, which is set to be released later this year.

The next expansion of the original game title is expected to be as big as The Taken King DLC, which was released in September of last year. Apparently the company is busy with the upcoming expansion and it will be hard for the team to find more time to develop on the game's second installment. According to reports, there has been some pressure coming from the players of the game for another DLC, which is one of the reasons why they decided to focus more on the current game instead of developing the sequel.

"That passion and loyalty from our fans is something that we don't take for granted," said Eric Hirshberg, the chief executive officer of Activision, during a conference call as reported by Push Square. "Which is why we're working side by side with Bungie to make sure that in the future, we're able to deliver a more consistent stream of great content and drive even more engagement."

Activision is the publisher of the online-only first-person shooter video game, "Destiny."

Meanwhile, there are speculations that fans may not be able to hear anything from the company with regard to "Destiny 2" until 2017.

For now, fans will have to wait for the DLC pack intended for the original title and wait for any official announcement from the company with regard to the sequel.
